Tata Vislevskaya is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and photographer. She was born in Moscow in 1986 and is now living in Los Angeles, USA. Since 2011, her art photography has been featured at various group exhibitions worldwide, including Théâtre antique d’Orange, The Finnish Museum of Photography, KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin, and Moscow House of Photography.
Tata’s family had a tragic missing person experience that left an indelible mark on their lives: her paternal grandmother disappeared in Russia during the late 1980s, presumably killed. Despite efforts to track her down, no one was ever able to find out what happened— and it wasn’t for lack of trying; police were slow or inactive when attempting to investigate the case. This spurred Tata into action as she grew up surrounded by reminders of the mystery around her grandmother’s disappearance and how such tragedies can tear families apart.
